Question: Should I use a tanning bed rather than go out in the sun?
Answer:

Tanning beds should be avoided, as they are a source of UV light. Many people with systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus) are also photosensitive. Photosensitivity creates a rash after exposure to UV radiation in sunlight or fluorescent lights. Going to a tanning bed can worsen your lupus.
