Question: What is the State of Lupus Research Today?
Answer:

Studies regarding lupus, how it affects people, and how there might one day be a cure have grown in great numbers in recent years. There are several areas of study, often explored through the conducting of clinical trials, that researchers are focussing on:

  • how to fundamentally change the immune system in people with lupus
  • ethnic groups at increased risk
  • environmental triggers
  • hormonal triggers
  • heart disease in people with lupus
  • what causes damage to the nervous system
  • various treatments
