The most important step to take before becoming pregnant is to visit your rheumatologist to determine if your lupus is in remission or well under control. If you become pregnant while your lupus is active, it can result in miscarriage or serious complications for the mother. Tell your doctor of your plan to become pregnant and get those questions answered from Step One. Ask your doctor if he or she can recommend an obstetrician.
