Malar rash

Definition:

Often a tell-tale sign of lupus, more than half of those diagnosed with lupus display this rash. The malar, or butterfly, rash presents itself as a red, flat facial rash that extends from cheek to cheek, across the nose. It is also known as the "butterfly rash," as it resembles a similar shape.
