While on "America's Next Top Model," the reality show in which she was a finalist, Mercedes Scelba-Shorte (also known as Mercedes Yvette) revealed that she had been diagnosed with lupus.
Today the young woman continues to model and is a spokesperson for the Lupus Foundation of America. She’s appeared on the cover of the LFA’s magazine twice, as well as covers for Wedding Dresses and Teen Vogue magazines.
